Dental Insurance Plans - The most well known types of types of dental insurance plans are PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) or DHMO (Dental Health Maintenance Organization). Both of these are considered 'managed care'. Non-Insurance Dental Plans - Discount dental plans or Reduced-Fee-For-Service Plans can often times provide quality dental care at a discounted rate. These non-insurance dental plans vary in types but for the most part, unlike dental insurance, have no annual limits. A monthly or yearly fee is paid for the membership and in exchange discounts on dental services are provided. Depending on ones individual situation these savings can be substantial when multiple family members are involved. For example, for one individual if their dental costs are $1,000 for the year, a savings of $250 - $500 can possibly be received. If there is a family of four, and the projected dental costs are now $4,000 for the year, the savings have now increased by four! For those who are on a tight budget or have a large family, savings of this type can truly be appreciated.
